Co-regulation techniques

While self-regulation helps us manage our own emotions, co-regulation is the powerful process of helping others regulate their emotions while simultaneously calming our own. This reciprocal emotional support is the foundation of healthy relationships—whether with partners, children, friends, or colleagues. In this workout, I will teach you five evidence-based co-regulation techniques that foster emotional safety and deepen connection during difficult conversations and stressful situations.

The Science of Co-regulation:

When you make someone feel heard and understood, you help them regulate their emotions. By creating a safe environment for conversation, you encourage them to be receptive to your perspective, which in turn helps regulate your own emotions. This mutually beneficial cycle creates emotional harmony and strengthens relationship bonds.
